Student work on Showtime

'Environment (Urban Sprawl)' by Aleks Marshall and 'The Fox King' by Noor Mula

Shadow Pattern 2

'Shadow Pattern 2' by Clara Shephard

Graduating students have been busy uploading new work to Showtime. Highlights so far include Aleks Marshall’s ‘Urban Sprawl’ (Foundation Diploma in Art and Design) – a striking comment on modern living, Clara Shepherd’s evokative art work and photography (BA Surface Design) and Noor Mula’s colourful illustrations (BA Animation).

We have also spotted some interesting examples of moving image. Tamisha Harris (MA Graphic Moving Image) has produced a short work interpreting the poem ‘We Real Cool’ by Gwendolyn Brooks and Alexandra Chervotkina (BA Creative Strategy) has created a playful film encouraging young women to exercise.

Students who are graduating this summer are invited to create their profiles online now. The site allows you to add images, embed film from Vimeo and YouTube and also add publications and an online CV via Issuu. It’s a really quick and free opportunity to promote yourself online to the thousands of visitors we receive to our website and to the millions beyond via google. Furthermore, you can keep your profile on the site for as long as you choose after graduating and you can continue to update it when you leave LCC.

There are also plans afoot to give the site a sleek new look for Summer 2011. Clean, fresh designs are being created to maximise impact, with the use of larger, prominent images to give each student a real chance to shine. You can preview the new layout on Flickr.

Angela Enyori has just graduated with distinction from our Foundation Studies Art and Design course. Here are a few images of her work. Angela chats a little about her work:

“I used a dartboard to advertise a Shakespeare play ‘The Tempest’ in a pub setting. I like the idea of using a prop from a pub to advertise the play. The fax images are about a short romance which is running it’s course and finally ending. I used a fax machine as the concept to show how it is the safest way of receiving a message. The punk images (Reg Perfect and the Squeeges) are 3D and I used an overhead projector.”

You can see Angela’s profile on Showtime now.
