Asking for trouble – MA Design Writing Criticism student wants you to hack and corrupt her blog

Relationalism emerged towards the end of the previous decade and debate has raged ever since as to whether it is the defining artistic movement of our modern times or if it can even be defined as such. The Tate Modern added validity to its challenge to redefine the market for contemporary art by hosting their Altermodern exhibition as part of the Tate Triennial.

Till now Relationalism has mainly been expressed within the realms of Fine Art. However current MA Design Writing Criticism student Katy Hetzeneder is looking to apply similar principles to her own practice in which you play an integral role.

Her blog Pleasehackme.net is a live thesis about hacking as a critical practice. Visitors to her site are encouraged to hack into her blog, adding and modifying the content as they please.  Rather than simply reading a news article, say, online and added your comments at the bottom, Katy wants to investigate the criticial outcomes of  directly interfering in the content of existing pages to express our own views and opinions.

Using computer application ShiftSpace Katy urges you to critically hack her website by superposing sticky notes, selective highlighting,  image swapping and even modifying the source code.

To find out more and contribute to this unique approach to her MA Design Writing Criticism thesis visit Pleasehackme.net and get hacking.
